The iconic Rimrock Resort in Banff that sits on the side of Sulphur Mountain will be closing its doors this October to undergo a complete renovation and will reopen in summer 2026 as a flagship for Accor’s newest luxury collection brand: Emblems Collection.
The hotel which has been an Accor partner hotel for several years but non-participating in ALL Accor Live Limitless will become the first Emblems Collection property in North America.
Emblem Collection Hotels
Emblem Collection hotels are described as “a collection of unique, emblematic luxury hotels: from historic landmarks and architectural marvels to retreats amid sublime nature.” I’d place the Rimrock in the last of those three descriptors as it is not unheard of to see park rangers on the road up to the Rimrock heeding a warning to drivers, cyclists and hikers about bears in the vicinity! Not to mention a plentiful amount of deer, Rocky Mountain Sheep, moose and other wildlife can easily be seen in the area!
The Rimrock transformation
What better way to describe the upcoming renovations than from the Rimrock Hotel themselves:
Studio Collective, renowned for its immersive and emotive design philosophy, is spearheading the visionary redesign at Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection, shaping a contemporary retreat that seamlessly balances modern refinement and sustainability with raw natural beauty. This evolution introduces captivating new elements that redefine the guest experience, including: a breathtaking mountainside infinity pool with sweeping views of the Bow Valley, vitality pools, ice immersion bathing, panoramic saunas, A Visionary Redesign Rooted in Nature meditation rooms, movement studios, and an expedition centre designed to offer guests insight into the adventures and activities available in the iconic Canadian Rockies. Wellbeing at the resort will be prioritized through thoughtful curation, offering year-round, season-to-season immersion within the natural elements while fostering profound introspection and exploration
ALL Accor Live Limitless Participation
And here’s where we get to the part that most of our readers and points and miles enthusiasts will be excited for! When the Rimrock Banff opens in summer 2026 the location will become a participating property in the ALL Accor Live Limitless program with full earn and burn options and elite status recognition! It will join two other iconic locations that are ALL Rewards hotels in Banff National Park, the Fairmont Banff Springs and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
ALL Accor Live Limitless members will earn 25 ALL Rewards points per 10 EUR spent (or equivalent in local currency, so C$ in our case!) and that goes up to 50 points per 10 EUR if you have the highest Diamond elite level status.
ALL Accor Live Limitless Elite Level benefits:
Redeeming ALL Rewards are very simple with one set redemption rate of 1,000 points = 20 EUR (converted to local currency of course!) towards your hotel bill. You can use points to pay for part or all of your stay.
I am 99% sure that when the Rimrock does re-open its doors in 2026 it should be offered in the ALL program’s famous 4x points offer for new hotels, which means you would earn 100 points per 10 EUR spent at the property. Keep your eyes open for that offer or just keep following Rewards Canada as we cover all the ALL offers from around the world on our ALL Accor Live Limitless Bonus Points offers page and our Hotel Bonus Points Map:
Paying for your Rimrock, Fairmont & Accor Hotel stays:
The ALL Accor Live Limitless program does not have their own co-brand credit card in Canada so your best bet for paying for these stays are with a credit card that has a travel or hotel accelerator. A small example of such cards include:
- The Platinum Card from American Express – Earns 2 points per dollar on travel (2% to 4% or higher return on spending)
- Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinte Privilege Card – Earns 3 points per dollar on travel (3% return on spending)
- BMO VIPorter World Elite®* Mastercard®* – Earns 2 points per dollar on hotel accomodations (average 3% return on spending)
Wrapping it up
For the longest time Banff and Lake Louise were a black hole for points and miles enthusiasts due to very few hotels participating in any major hotel loyalty programs. We did have Fairmont President’s Club back in the day but that was a non-points program.
However over the course of the past decade or so we’ve seen more locations and programs emerge – first and foremost ALL Accor Live Limitless which will now have three properties within the national park with the addition of the Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection and several others like Marriott Bonvoy, Canalta Rewards and Stash Hotel Rewards who have all joined the fray within the park boundaries.
