Aeroplan Status Extension

Air Canada extends Aeroplan Elite Status validity to 13 months

The team at Air Canada Aeroplan continue their mission to tweak the program for the better with this latest announcement on the extension of elite status validity!

Elite Status Validity extended to 13 months

Effective immediately, all Aeroplan elite status members will now have 13 month elite status validity. Previously, all elite members would hold status for up to 12 months with it expiring on December 31. This means members with status will now have their benefits available until January 31 of the following year.

  • If members secure Status for 2025 before the end of 2024, their status will be valid until January 31, 2026. Their Status will be extended automatically, and 2025 Core and Select Benefits will be available by mid-January, as usual.
  • If members are expecting a downgrade in their Elite Status in 2025, their existing travel benefits will be extended until January 31, 2025, giving them an extra month to enjoy their travel benefits.
  • New Status, if applicable, will take effect on February 1, 2025, and their Core and Select Benefits will be available by mid-February. Aeroplan will start extending Status expiry dates in December.

Earning Elite Status remains at a calendar year

The Elite Status validity extension is only applicable to existing status benefits. The actual earning or re-qualifying of Elite status continues to be based on qualifying activities completed between January 01 and December 31.
