New Hyatt Hotels in Canada 2025

Hyatt’s New Hotel Openings in Canada for 2025

Welcome to the third part of our series on new hotel openings in Canada for 2025! The next chain we take a look at is Hyatt Hotels who are planning on opening no less than five hotels in Ontario, Quebec and Yukon Territory. Yes, the Yukon! Let’s take a look at what Hyatt has in store for 2025 in Canada!

Out of the major hotel chains, Hyatt Hotels are one of the smaller ones globally, although they have been growing at a rapid pace and their presence in Canada sees them currently operating 20 hotels here. They’ll grow that Canadian number by 25% this year and they have even more hotels in the pipeline that will be opening in the next few years.

Comprised of 33 brands, Hyatt Hotels offers mid-range to ultra luxurious properties all around the world.  Here in Canada we currently have eight of their brands operating as well as some properties that fall under the Mr & Mrs. Smith banner, which are part of the World of Hyatt program.

New Hotel Highlights:

TOOR Hotel Toronto

TOOR Toronto

The TOOR Hotel Toronto is the second JdV by Hyatt hotel in the city and the third in Canada. JdV (Joie de Vivre) is Haytt’s brand for independent boutique hotels that want to have the power of a major hotel brand and loyalty program behind them. As the latest luxury boutique hotel in Toronto, the TOOR will have 232 guestrooms and suites and be part of a newly built mixed use building in the Garden District.

The in house dining option at the TOOR Hotel will be a french inspired contemporary restaurant called the Muse Bistro + Bar. The property will also feature a fully equipped fitness centre, meeting/special event spaces and is pet friendly!

The hotel falls into Category 4 in the World of Hyatt program which means standard room night awards will start at 12,000 points per night (12,000 off peak, 15,000 standard, 18,000 peak), standard suites start at 21,000 points and premium suites start at 24,000 points.

At the time of posting this article cash rates for the first couple of months of being open were in the low $300 to mid $400 range per night. In terms of award nights those first couple of months had standard rooms all pricing at the standard rate of 15,00 points per night while moving up to the peak rate of 18,000 during the summer.

In the above example for a one night stay this April you can redeem 15,000 points for a room that costs $365 all in, which works out to 2.43 cents per point. That’s a pretty decent redemption as we value World of Hyatt points at roughly 2 cents each (C$)

While we don’t have a Hilton co-branded credit card here in Canada – hopefully this steady growth will be incentive for them to do so. In the meantime you can convert American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors so that’s one avenue for you to rack up more points to redeem for free nights at these new or any other Hilton locations.

While World of Hyatt does not have co-branded credit card here in Canada you can still maximize your points earning on your Hyatt stays by utilizing a credit card that has a travel accelerator like  The Platinum Card® from American Express or the BMO AscendTM World Elite®* Mastercard®*. You can also redeem the points earned on those credit cards against the hotel stay once the charge shows up on your statement, all the while still earning your World of Hyatt points on the actual stay.

Wrapping it up

After two quiet years where Hyatt only opened up one new location in Canada it is nice to see them back on track with their Canadian growth plans that were announced several years ago.

With five new hotels on tap for 2025, Hyatt will grow by 25% to 25 locations in Canada not including the Mr. & Mrs. Smith locations and that growth will continue over the coming years. In 2026 we should see them adding a Hyatt House hotel at Toronto Pearson, a Hyatt Place and Hyatt House at Vancouver International Airport and more!
