Air Canada Aeroplan’s partnership with Eurowings was expanded today with the addition of the airline to redemption side of things. As of July 25, 2024 Aeroplan members can now redeem points for flights on Eurowings within Europe and also to/from North Africa and the Middle East.
Up until now the partnership between Aeroplan and Eurowings has only allowed members to earn points on Eurowings flights so its great to see redemption options being added as well.
Redeeming points on Eurowings
Aeroplan members can redeem points for travel on Eurowings in both economy class and business class. The airline which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa may be familiar to Canadians as they used to fly long haul to Canada under that brand name. However LH split the company into two with Eurowings taking care of the shorter haul flying and Discover Airlines taking care of long haul.
In terms of business class, the seats on Eurowings fleet are the same in economy and business class. The business class cabin is your typical intra-European 3×3 economy class seating with the middle seat blocked.
Redeeming points on Eurowings works as follows:
- Flights will be priced based on Aeroplan’s partner grid
- Members will be able to book Eurowings flights online at aircanada.com, through the Air Canada mobile app, or via Aeroplan’s Contact Centre
- Flights can be combined with flights operated by Air Canada and our other international airline partners
- Eurowings flights are eligible for redemption in Economy and Business class cabins
- The partner booking fee will apply for flight rewards which include travel on Eurowings
