Vinpearl 81 Review

Hotel Review: Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection – Ho Chi Minh City

Next up on my Asia trip was a one night stay in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. For this stay, I decided to book a free night at the Vinapearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection using Marriott Bonvoy points. What drew me to this hotel was the location and that it’s part of the Autograph Collection, which I never experienced before. The hotel is situated in Binh Thanh District by the Song Sai Gon River and is conveniently connected to a shopping mall.

Arrival

I chose to use a Grab ride from the airport to the hotel. As I encountered in Da Nang airport, fraudulent Grab drivers and taxi operators attempted to approach unsuspecting travellers. It’s essential to remain vigilant as they frequently overcharge, often quoting fares 3-4 times higher after the trip. Upon connecting with my authorized Grab driver at the designated location, the journey from the airport to the hotel was quick, the ride was 30 minutes and cost $8.

Upon reaching the hotel, there were helpful staff near the building elevators to assist guests with getting to the hotel lobby on 48th floor.

Exiting the elevator and entering the lobby, I was immediately mesmerized by the soaring ceiling and luxurious ambiance, complemented by breathtaking city views.

Check-In

Check-in was a breeze-  I had completed the mobile check-in in advance and was surprised to see that I had been upgraded to a one-bedroom suite. The hotel representative welcomed me and expressed gratitude for my Titanium Elite membership, and kindly highlighted the benefits associated with it. I was given a choice of a welcome gift – points or a full breakfast at the restaurant. However, because of my status, I was informed that I could enjoy breakfast in the executive club, so I chose the former.

Executive Lounge

As my room wasn’t quite ready when I arrived, the hotel representative provided me with access to the executive lounge to wait on the 71st floor. They assured me, that my luggage would be in my room once the room was prepared. When I arrived at the lounge, the lounge staff warmly greeted me, and one of them provided a brief tour of the lounge and took my drink order.

This hotel’s hospitality level is truly top-notch, meeting the expectations of a five-star property. When my room was ready, the same hotel representative came to get me at the lounge with my key and kindly escorted me to my room.

Living Room
 Half-Bathroom

The one-bedroom suite, spanned 770 square feet, boasted a living room, a half bathroom, a full bath complete with a shower, a luxurious bathtub, and a king-size bedroom. The room treated me to spectacular city views, even from the bathroom. Elegant furniture and two large-screen TVs adorned the suite. There was also a spacious closet in the hallway for clothes and luggage. The room’s technological features were impressive, with a central control panel in the bedroom for lights, blinds, and temperature.

My favourite part of the suite was the main bathroom, which featured a roomy glass-enclosed shower and a luxurious tub by a window, providing a view of the city. The bathroom was thoughtfully stocked with all essential amenities, from toothbrushes to bath soap.

Main Bathroom

On the 47th floor, there is a gym, spa, and pool. Although there are more than enough beach chairs, the outdoor pool proved too hot for my liking during my visit. The gym, on the other hand, was well-equipped with a variety of cardio machines and weight machines to support a good workout. I took the opportunity to visit the spa for a massage, which was a luxurious experience. The treatment room provided a sunset view while I enjoyed the spa.

The hotel had a café/bar called “the Cloud” on the lobby floor, serving a selection of well-crafted drinks and alcoholic beverages in the evening. Additionally, there was the restaurant “Oriental Pearl” on the 66th floor, offering an all-day buffet and an à la carte menu. Regrettably, I didn’t have the opportunity to explore the hotel further or dine at any of these enticing locations in the evening.

Wrapping it up

Overall, this hotel stood out as my favourite on this trip. It provided a truly luxurious experience, with top-notch hospitality and the convenience of being connected to a mall.
