Next up in my journey through Asia was a stop in Da Nang, Vietnam. It was a short one night stay in the city at the Four Points By Sheraton Da Nang. I booked the stay directly through Marriott.com and opted to pay cash since it was reasonably priced at around $129 per night which was better option than redeeming 15,000 points for a free night.

Arrival
I took a Grab ride from Da Nang International Airport to the hotel. There’s an area specifically designated for Grab (similar to Uber) rides, but it’s crucial to exercise caution as there are fake Grab drivers lurking about, ready to approach unsuspecting travelers. It’s wise to dismiss these individuals and patiently await your legitimate driver, identifiable by a matching license plate.
The Grab ride took about 15 minutes and proved to be a budget-friendly choice, costing $6. Upon arriving at the hotel, a gracious staff member promptly opened my car door and offered assistance with my luggage. This initial interaction hinted at a distinctive experience that embraces the ambiance more commonly associated with Asian hospitality.
The hotel is conveniently situated on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, adjacent to Altara Suites. It’s slightly north of the primary beachfront strip, nestled in a less developed enclave compared to the bustling central beach area.
Check-In
When you enter the hotel, you can tell by the lobby design that this is not the typical Four Points aesthetic. Instead, it exuded the opulence typically attributed to luxury hotels. To the left, there was a charming lounge, and adjacent to it, a dedicated check-in area, with an exclusive desk for elite members.
A friendly hotel staff member extended a warm welcome, inquiring about my Marriott Bonvoy membership. Upon confirmation, I was personally ushered to a designated desk where a manager introduced herself, assuring me that she would oversee my check-in process. As I settled in for this brief wait, I was provided with a refreshing cold green tea drink, setting the tone for the remarkable experience ahead.
Hotel Lobby
The manager expressed genuine gratitude for my loyalty and upgraded me to a room on a higher floor with a delightful beach view. She mentioned a gift awaiting me in the new room. She also reviewed my Titanium Elite benefits, which included breakfast. However, since my room rate already included breakfast, she kindly offered to provide additional welcome points instead. The exceptional service continued as a staff member escorted me to my room with my luggage.
Guest Room
The room was a standard one-bedroom, measuring approximately 378 square feet, and offered a king-sized bed, a sofa, a functional desk with an ergonomic chair, and a captivating view of Da Nang beach. Distinguishing itself from the typical Four Points room, it boasted a chic bathroom complete with a glass-enclosed shower and automated blinds for privacy, exuding a luxurious ambiance that enhanced the overall experience. The room was equipped with a 49-inch LCD television, a cabinet, a secure safe, minibar fridge, and all the essential items you’d anticipate finding in a standard hotel room.
Standing Shower
The thoughtful gift in my room included a traditional Vietnamese hat, macarons, and a cake, which was a delightful gesture to express gratitude to their guests.
Welcome Gift
On the 35th floor, there was a fitness center with limited weight equipment and a few cardio machines that offered a view of the ocean through the windows. However, there was a faint, unpleasant odor on this floor, reminiscent of a seafront or sewage scent.
The hotel featured a rooftop pool, while it wasn’t exceptionally spacious, it served as an enjoyable area, complimented by the adjacent Horizon bar and ample lounge space. This combination made it a perfect setting for relaxation. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to enjoy it in the evening.
Rooftop Pool
The Eatery restaurant, situated on the 5th floor, was a full buffet restaurant. The staff requested my room number, and upon recognizing my Marriott Bonvoy Elite status, they guided me to a private room stocked with wine, champagne, and beverages. A dedicated waitress expressed appreciation for my elite status and offered an À La Carte menu in addition to the buffet. I ordered a bowl of pho, and the buffet presented an extensive array of Western and local dishes, surpassing my previous experience at the Westin Singapore’s buffet breakfast! The service at the restaurant was impeccable, with the attentive waitress checking in on me and offering any assistance I might require, making Marriott Bonvoy Elite members feel genuinely valued.

Wrapping it up
Overall, my one-night stay at this hotel was an outstanding experience. Despite the underdeveloped surroundings, the exceptional service and amenities more than compensated for it. I wholeheartedly recommend booking this hotel when you travel to Da Nang!

Award night details:
Points required for a free night: 10,500 to 19,500 points
Marriott Bonvoy does not publish award night charts anymore as they have moved to dynamic pricing. Looking at the next five months standard free night awards at the Four Points by Sheraton Danang run between 10,500 and 19,500 points per night. This means you can use the free night award from the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express®* Card or Marriott Bonvoy™ Business American Express® Card but we would recommend paying cash or points for this hotel due to its low overall rates and then use the free night award on a stay with a higher cash price.
