If you watched our weekly loyalty rewards newscast This Week in RWRDS this past Friday and tuned in until the end, you’ll already know this but if you haven’t, AIR MILES is one step closer to launching the much anticipated transfer option between Cash Miles and Dream Miles. We first covered this news earlier in October mentioning that AIR MILES was going to test the option internally and revealed the details of their two phase plan to ultimately return to a single currency
Internal testing has begun and first look at the transfer option
This past week AIR MILES’ president Shawn Stewart posted the details that internal testing had begun and comments from other AIR MILES employees mentioned it was very easy to do! Shawn also stated it will be “coming very soon to the public” and posted an image of what the transfer option looks like:
Transfer ratio remains unknown
There is no mention of the transfer ratio however I would think it will be 1:1 as there is no difference between the two options when it comes to earning the miles. The differences are on the redemption side where Cash Miles are 95 Miles to $10 (or 10.5 cents per miles) whereas Dream Miles can vary from below to well above that 10.5 cents value. It you were to average out all the Dream Miles options the value probably comes in very near to that 10.5 cents so all in all everything points towards a 1:1 transfer ratio for the miles. We’ll be sure to pass along this information once AIR MILES provides the transfer details.
First step to one single currency
As we mentioned early in October this transfer option is phase one of AIR MILES plan for their two currencies. Phase two will see the two options combined into one currency sometime in 2024.
Wrapping it up
It appears that an option AIR MILES collectors have been asking for for years is almost reality. The option to transfer AIR MILES between Cash Miles and Dream Miles is being successfully tested internally at the program and will soon be available to all collectors!
This will open the door for collectors to no longer have to worry about which currency to choose to earn as long as transfers will be unlimited in either direction (I don’t see why they wouldn’t be as they will be combined next year) and then be able to redeem as they please for either Cash or Dream Rewards.
