Air Canada Aeroplan has a new promotion to earn bonus Aeroplan points for taking multiple flights to or from Ontario. To me it appears that is a response to all of Porter Airlines new flights to/from major cities across Canada out of Toronto. More so it does seem targeted to keeping business travellers from defecting as multiple flights are required to earn the bonus points.
Earn up to 12,500 or more bonus points
Earn up to 12,500 Bonus Aeroplan Points when you fly multiple flights on Air Canada between Ontario and a Canadian or U.S. destination on an Economy Standard fare or higher. Bonuses as follows:
- Fly 2 eligible round trip flights (or 4 eligible one way flights) to earn 5,000 bonus points
- Fly a 3rd eligible round trip flight (or 2 eligible one way flights) to earn 7,500 bonus points
- Earn 2,000 bonus points on your 4th and every eligible round trip flight (or 2 eligible one way flights) after that
NOTE: The bonus for flying to Ontario is only from Canadian cites, not from U.S. cities as that isn’t really required to compete against Porter or some of the other carriers.
Aeroplan reached out to tell us that contrary to the published terms and conditions, flights from the US to Ontario will count. For example LGA-YYZ and then YYZ-LGA would be valid
