More Rewards RBC Visa’s partner earning clarified! (It’s good news!)

At the start of February More Rewards launched their new co-brand Visa cards with RBC and it quickly became evident that these card’s presented as a new decent option for travel rewards based on the accelerated rates for using the cards at More Rewards partners and for dining, gas and EV charging.

What wasn’t clearly evident though and required some clarification was the accelerated earn rates of 5x points and 8x points at More Rewards partners. Are those rates just for the locations owned by More Rewards parent company (Save On Foods, Urban Fare etc.) or do they also include the other program partners like Speedy Glass, Panago Pizza and more. The reason we ask this is due to is some conflicting terminology used in the marketing of the cards:

As you can see the header states “Grocery and Pharmacy” partners and the descriptive text states “Save-On-Foods, Quality Foods, Buy-Low Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Nesters Market, Pure Integrative Pharmacy locations and more” which makes one lean towards only the stores owned by More Rewards parent company.

However they also state “and more” and “over 700 locations” and they don’t have 700 grocery and pharmacy locations. So the latter terms makes it seem like all More Rewards partners are included.

And it is the latter! We reached out to More Rewards for clarification and they told us the More Rewards partner accelerators of 5x points and 8x points on their co-brand cards is indeed for all of their partners – not just their own stores.

This is great news and it is significant news as it makes the More Rewards Visa Cards some of the better options for those additional merchants. For example, if you are frequent guest with Coast Hotels you may want to consider the More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite Card as it will earn 8 points per dollar on Coast stays. Or by purchasing any travel direct with More Rewards Travel you should also get up to 8 points per dollar. Those 8 points translate to a ~3.36% return on spending when redeeming those points for travel (if the price is good via More Rewards Travel). Just something to think about!

Air Canada adds Montreal-Edinburgh route for this summer

Air Canada has added one more new Transatlantic route for the upcoming summer season. The airline will now offer 3x weekly service from Montreal to Edinburgh. The service will be operated with Boeing 737 Max 8 and will run from June 26 to September 6.

This is quite possibly another route taking the place of reduced Canada to U.S. capacity.

Porter Airlines partners with PASCAN Aviation for more connectivity in Eastern Canada

Porter Airlines has implemented a new interline partnership with Montreal’s PASCAN Aviation to offer travellers access to smaller centres in Eastern Canada and vice versa to larger centres across Canada and the U.S.

Porter-Pascan connections can currently be made through Halifax and Québec City, with more than 90 connecting routes available, linking eight Pascan destinations across Canada’s eastern provinces with Porter flights to points across North America.

The new interline partnership will allow year-round connections on cross-continental routes like Vancouver – Sydney, NS, and Orlando – Saint John, NB, plus more connectivity in Eastern Canada with routes like Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Bonaventure, QC, and Gaspe, QC – Timmins, ON. Primary connecting airports are in Halifax and Québec City, with other hubs serving as secondary options.
