Receive a 100% bonus when you buy IHG One Rewards Points
IHG One Rewards is out with another bonus for buying points. This time it is a longer duration promotion where members can earn up to a 100% bonus when buying 5,000 or more points until September 7.
Buying 150,000 points (300,000 total with bonus) costs US$1,500 which means each point will only cost you 0.5 cents (US$). However, you don’t have to buy that many to get in on that lowest price, the 0.5 US cents per points kicks in when you buy at least 26,000 points. We don’t encourage buying points just because there is a bonus but if you can foresee a potential use for them in the next 4-6 months it can definitely be worthwhile to buy them.
Here’s quick example of how buying points can save you some money on a stay. One night at the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre (Broadway) in the middle of August runs between $440 (AAA/CAA Rate) and $464 (IHG Member rate) per night.
The same night can be had for 55,000 points.
You can buy 56,000 points (28,000 plus the 100% bonus) for US$280 or about C$400-$410 depending on the exchange rate and GST/HST.
This may not be the best example of buying points but as you can see no matter it does provide some savings over the cash prices for the stay.
