New Kimpton Hotels social password for the winter
Kimpton Hotels has a new secret social password out for the winter season. That password is “It’s Giving” and it can be used from November 1 to January 31. If you are unfamiliar with Kimpton’s social password it is a ‘code’ you give to the front desk agent when checking in for a Kimpton stay. Once you give the password you’ll receive a special surprise or perk for your stay. This can range from F&B vouchers and complimentary room upgrades to local knick knacks and complimentary bottles of wine.
Here in Canada we have one Kimpton Hotel, the Saint George in Toronto where you can use the password. Outside of Canada there are over 70 Kimpton Hotels (primarily in the U.S.) where you can also utilize the password.

Update on American Express Cobalt Card Transit Multipliers
We’ve had several readers reach out to us asking about the American Express Cobalt Card 2x points multiplier only awarding 1x points with Presto in Ontario and Compass in B.C.. We reached out to Amex about this and it does appear to be a technical issue and not an actual change from 2x points to 1x points:
We’re aware of a potential issue related to accelerators not being applied to certain transit merchants. The team is actively investigating to determine what, if any, efforts are required to update processes. Cardmembers who believe they are missing points should call customer service to inquire further.
