Changes coming to British Airways Executive Club
British Airways announced some changes to their Executive Club program yesterday including a name change and how elite status qualifying points will be earned. For the most part the changes won’t affect the majority of Canadians save for small amount of those who go for elite status with the program as you many now have to spend more to achieve status (especially Gold).
Here are highlights of the changes that will take place in April 2025 and then some links to a few good articles from UK based resources that provide more in-depth coverage
- When these changes take place the program name will also change. Gone will be Executive Club to be replaced with Club, well actually the complete program name will be “The British Airways Club”
- Elite Status Tier Points will be awarded based on spend. Members will earn 1 tier point per £1 spend on BA flights (earned on base fare, BA imposed surcharges + extras like seat and baggage fees)
- Tier points awarded on partner flights will continue to be distance based but will be allotted a percentage based on fare class (for example the cheapest fare on Malaysia Airline will be awarded 2% of the distance)
- New Tier Status points qualification thresholds wil be as follows
– Bronze 3,500
– Silver 7,500
– Gold 20,000
– Gold Guest List 65,000 (80% must be on BA ) - There will be additional avenues to earning tier points that are available to Canadians:
– Contributions to Sustainable Aviation Fuel will earn tier points
– BA Holidays packages will earn tier points on the entire amount spent on flight+hotel, flight+car and flight+hotel+car bookings. The total tier points earned on BA Holdays will be split equally amongst all travellers on the same booking

AIR MILES Flash Offer to earn 50 bonus miles at Pharmasave
