The Ultimate No Fee Cash Back Credit Card Portfolio
An update has been made to our Ultimate No Fee Cash Back Credit Card portfolio. This is the perfect trio of cards for someone looking to earn as much cash back possible on their credit card spending without spending a dime on annual fees.
The primary change to the portfolio sees the Visa card option moving from the no fee Scotia Momentum Visa card to the Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa card. The American Express and Mastercard options continue to be the SimplyCash Card from American Express and Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard.

Earn 2x points at Hyatt Hotels in Europe, the Middle East, Africa & Asia
So far we don’t have a global systemwide promotion from World of Hyatt but they did release a 2x points offer for stays at over 320 locations in in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Double points is great for the more expensive stays as you can really rack up the points but with this offer the bonus doesn’t kick in until your second stay. That makes the bonus so-so as you aren’t earning anything extra on your first stay.
To maximize the bonus you may need to mattress hop! That is, if you may only have one stay planned during the promotional period and it’s a multiple night stay you’ll want to do the first night in one Hyatt (The less expensive one if possible) and then move over to another Hyatt (the more expensive one) for the remainder of the trip. Granted this only works in locations where there may be multiple Hyatt properties to do so!

Scene+
There is no overall spend bonus this week for Scene+ – most likely due to the first Tuesday of the month offer coming up on October 1 where you can choose to save 15% or earn 200 bonus points for every $20 spent (min. $50 purchase). The personalized offers continue to provide more relevant products for me so I’m happy about that! How do your personalized offers look?
And don’t forget to use your Scene+ earning credit card for your purchases to earn even more points, namely the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card which earns 6 points per dollar (a 6% return) at Sobeys, Safeway, IGA and other Empire grocery stores.
More Rewards
The More Rewards “Points Party” promotion continues until October 9. Members can earn up to 40x points on each of their grocery shops with this promotion:
- Spend $60-$149 and get 10x points,
- spend $150-$299 and get 20x points, or
- spend $300+ and get 40x points!
Points Multiplier Offer may be redeemed multiple times during the Points Multiplier Period providing a Qualifying Spend is made.
PC Optimum
Nothing amazing to speak of on the grocery side of things but they have some big bonuses at Shoppers Drug Mart and some good Gift Card bonuses (don’t go hog wild on the gift cards – buying too many seems to be one of triggers for breaking the terms and conditions of the program in regards to what the program considers regular spending for a household)
- 20,000 bonus points when you spend $60 ore more as Shoppers Drug Mart (offer starts Sep 27)
- 15,000 bonus points for every $100 spent on Ultimate Dining Cards (offer is live)
- 7,500 bonus points for every $50 spent on Edo Japan gift cards (offer starts Sep 28)
- 80,000 bonus points when you buy a Playstation 5, XBox X or Apple AirPods Pro Gen. 2 at Shoppers Drug Mart – this can be combined with the 20,000 points offer baove (offer starts Sep 27)
- 30,000 bonus points when you buy Apple AirTags. 2 at Shoppers Drug Mart – this can be combined with the 20,000 points offer baove (offer starts Sep 27)
There is also an offer for Real Canadian Liquorstore to earn 8,000 bonus points for every $40 spent until October 15.
AIR MILES Receipts
