PC Optimum being investigated by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
If the frozen account issue hasn’t been enough bad press for the program, making the media rounds this morning is news that the program is now being investigated by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada into allegations some customers are unable to delete their accounts. PC Optimum has told the Canadian media that they have a process in place to respond to deletion request in a timely manner.
As we have seen with the whole frozen account debacle, the response period from PC Optimum to members is very slow, that is, if a response is even generated. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that some members have had to take extra steps like going to the Privacy Commissioner to try to get movement out of Loblaw.
To this day RWRDS Canada continues to receive emails from PC Optimum members who are finding out their accounts have been frozen. We have been in contact with PC Optimum and so far they have shared the following but hopefully we’ll be able to learn more as the frozen account situation just seems to be escalating:
“(PC Optimum) are aware of and actively rectifying the frozen account situation. (PC Optimum) are exploring ways to ensure this doesn’t continue to happen to accounts in good standing and how to best communicate to members if their account is at risk.”

WestJet Link will come to a close on October 26
WestJet’s partnership with Pacific Coastal Airlines who have been operating the WestJet Link service in Western Canada will wrap up on October 26.
As of October 27, WestJet Encore will takeover the routes and fly them with their Dash 8-Q400 aircraft. All of the routes will see decreased frequency owing to the fact that larger aircraft will be operating the flights.

Pacific Coastal adding Kelowna – Prince George route
Speaking of Pacific Coastal, the B.C. based carrier will be adding a 6x weekly direct non-stop Kelowna to Prince George route for the upcoming winter season. The route will launch on October 28 and be operated with a Beechcraft 1900D (Source Pacific Coastal)
