RWRDS Daily Update – August 27, 2024: American Express Business Edge Card closed to new applications

American Express Business Edge Card closed to new applications

Canada’s best Small Business Credit Card is no more, well, at least for new applications. American Express has decided to sunset the American Express Business Edge card as of today. The good news is existing cardmembers are grandfathered and can continue using their cards as usual earning those coveted 3x points per dollar in select categories.

There is no word from Amex on replacement and in my opinion there won’t be one. American Express continues to offer four excellent small business cards and with Canada’s relatively small population, overabundance of card options, lack of general popularity of business cards (many business owners go with personal consumer cards) it is best not to spread yourself too thin, rather focus on what you do well, which for Amex, are cards that offer a healthy mix of points earning, excellent redemption options and benefits.

With the Biz Edge being removed, the Business Platinum Card from American Express is now considered the best Small Business Credit Card in Canada.

Two Choice Privileges hotels in Canada offering discounted reward nights

Choice Privileges has updated their ‘Sweet Spot Rewards’ that offer discounts on reward nights at select locations. This time we see discounts available at 28 locations in the U.S., Canada and Europe. These offers are available until November 30, 2024.

With this offer the Comfort Suites Kelowna, British Columbia, is available for 25,000 points instead of 30,000 points and the Quality Inn & Suites Levis, Quebec, is 20,000 points instead of 25,000 points
