WestJet expands Calgary to Tokyo to year round daily service
WestJet is expanding their service between Calgary and Tokyo to daily service all year round. The airline has boosted their winter flying schedule to every day service to match their summer schedule. In addition to the increased winter flight, WestJet has also expanded their codeshare flights on JAL Japan Airlines with WestJet’s code now being added on JAL flights to Nagoya and Osaka from Tokyo.
“Leveraging our Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, WestJet continues to strengthen Calgary’s tourism pipeline with expanded Trans-Pacific service, creating new inroads for economic growth across Western Canada and beyond,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “Today‘s announcement of our expansion to daily year-round service between Calgary and Tokyo further reaffirms our commitment to bolstering Canadians’ access to Asia.”

Air Canada increasing overhead storage space on A220 Fleet
Air Canada’s planned upgrades to their Airbus A220 fleet will feature Airbus’ new Airspace cabin. Air Canada will be the launch customer for this new design on the A220 that will provide more onboard real estate for carry on baggage! The first aircraft with the new bins is scheduled for delivery early in 2026.
“The A220 Airspace cabin features new XL bins, increasing the overhead capacity of bags by more than 15%, and will also include a new ceiling design and lighting. The introduction of the new Airspace cabin has been timed to coincide with additional Air Canada upgrades including an updated cabin interior and seat back entertainment.”
