Most WestJet Rewards functions are paused until April 30
The revamped WestJet Rewards program will launch in a couple of days and to facilitate the change many WestJet Rewards functions have to be turned off until April 30 so systems and process can be updated for the upcoming changes. In a nutshell you will be able to earn dollars/points andreceive your elite benefits on flights however no redemptions or account updates will be available during this time.
Available during system upgrade outage
- You can still add your WestJet Rewards ID to new reservations or at check-in to earn WestJet points and qualifying spend.
- If you’re travelling, you’ll have access to all your top-tier benefits.
- You will still be able to sign in through the WestJet app to access your boarding pass.
- WestJet free Wi-Fi presented by TELUS will still be available on select 737 aircraft; the account sign-in requirement will be temporarily removed.
Unavailable during system upgrade outage
- Account profile
- Members will not be able to sign in to their account through westjet.com during the outage period.
- All profile information including balances, status and transaction history will be unavailable.
- Members will not be able to make updates to their WestJet Rewards account.
WestJet App
- Members will be able to sign in to their account through the WestJet app during the outage period, but all profile information including balances and status will be unavailable.
- Members will not be able to make updates to their WestJet Rewards account.
Flight & vacation bookings
- Members will not be able to sign in to their account when making a booking; making a redemption or using a voucher will be not be available during this time.
- Book your travel before April 28 or after April 30 if you plan on redeeming or using a voucher.
- All vouchers that expire between April 28-30, 2025 have been extended through May 31, 2025 to ensure members every opportunity to book using their vouchers.
- You will still be able to add your WestJet Rewards ID to new reservations to earn WestJet points and qualifying spend.
Manage Trips
- Members will not be able to sign in to their accounts in Manage Trips; applying seat selection vouchers to reservations during this time will be not be available during this time.
- If you’re travelling between April 28 and May 1 and you plan on using a seat selection voucher, redeem to select your preferred seat in Manage Trips before April 28.
Check-in
- Members will not be able to sign in to their account during check-in.
- You will still be able to add your WestJet Rewards ID to reservations during check-in to earn WestJet points and qualifying spend.

American Express Cobalt Card will have a $150 annual fee in Quebec
A slight change to the American Express Cobalt Card is coming this summer. As of July 8, the card will no longer have a monthly fee of $12.99 for Quebec residents but rather will be moved to a $150 annual fee which I would assume is due to some of the stricter consumer protection laws in Quebec?
Marriott is buying CitizenM Hotels
Marriott has announced they are acquiring CitizenM Hotels, a chain of 36 hotels found in more than 20 cities spanning the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific. CitizenM will become the 37th hotel brand to be part of the Marriott ecosystem after the acquistion clears all the regulatory hurdles.
