In the most recent email sent out to WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard holders they reveal several new benefits coming to the card including data roaming. Starting on October 1, 2024 the card will provide 3 x 1GB FlexiRoam global data packs to cardholders and it will also offer a 30% off discount for tax-filing services with H&R Block.
This comes hot on the heels of the news of World and World Elite Mastercards losing their free Boingo global Wi-Fi benefit at the end of this month. WestJet does mention this in the same email as it perfectly tees up their soon to be free in-flight Wi-Fi benefit.
FlexiRoam global data packs
The new 3 x 1GB FlexiRoam global data packs will be a welcome addition to the cards as it will provide more flexibility when compared to the Boingo Wi-Fi benefit. You won’t have to search out Wi-Fi hotspots and instead be able to use data wherever you are in eligible countries outside of Canada.
What I am trying to determine is if this an RBC WestJet offer only or if this will be apply to all Canadian World Elite Mastercards? The reason why is that Flexiroam has partnered with Mastercard worldwide for several years now. That partnership has included offering World Elite cardholders a 3gb data roaming package once per year (currently seems to only work on the Triangle World Elite card in Canada however per this RFD thread)
Once this benefit goes live I’ll be sure to provide an update on how it works (if you want to know sooner the RFD thread linked to above should answer all questions on how Flexiroam works) and also if this will be a benefit afforded to more cards than just the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard .
30% discount with H&R Block
The other new benefit that is being added to the card is 30% off tax-filing services with H&R Block. Other than stating more details will come on October 1st we don’t know more about this, albeit it seems a pretty straightforward benefit.
Same thing here, I’ll keep an eye to see if this an exclusive benefit to the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard or this will become a benefit for all Canadian World Elite Mastercards.
