Rogers World Elite Mastercard

Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard increased earn rates and 50% redemption bonus are now live

As announced back in February, today is the day that the positive changes to Canada’s best no fee cash back rewards credit card, the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard are going live! New and existing cardholders will now earn up to 2% cash back on all purchases, 3% on U.S. dollar purchases and Rogers customers will also receive a 50% cash back bonus when redeeming their rewards for Rogers/Shaw/Fido purchases (services/products etc.)

Base earn rate increases to 2%

For Rogers/Shaw/Fido customers, the World Elite Mastercard’s base earn rate is being bumped up to 2% from the current 1.5% as of April 9. (non Rogers/Shaw/Fudo customers will continue to earn 1.5% and 3% for U.S. purchases)

Rogers Customers:

The card earns cash back rewards as follows:

  • 2% unlimited cash back on all eligible purchases
  • 3% unlimited cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars

Non-Rogers Customers:

The card earns cash back rewards as follows:

  • 1.5% unlimited cash back on all eligible purchases
  • 3% unlimited cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars

50% bonus when redeeming for Rogers/Shaw/Fido purchases

Also launching today is the same 1.5x multiplier that is seen on the Rogers Mastercard. This is the bonus you receive when you redeem your cash back for Rogers/Shaw/Fido purchases (services/products etc.) With the 50% extra these redemptions work out to 3% cash back. This should also mean the 3% back on U.S purchases will work out to a 4.5% cash back return for this redemption option.

5 Free Roam Like Home days per year

And, just like the Rogers Mastercard, the Red World Elite Mastercard now receives 5 Roam Like Home Days annually at no cost.

Removal of $15,000 annual spend requirement

The annual spend requirement of $15,000 to keep the World Elite Mastercard has been removed as of today.

Everything else remains the same

The rest of the features on the Rogers World Elite Mastercard remain the same. The Mastercard TravelPass by DragonPass airport lounge access membership, free global Wi-Fi with Boingo and insurance benefits have not changed.

Wrapping it up

Rogers continues to be one of the only card issuers in Canada that is going in an upwards direction with their credit card offerings right now. They spent most of last year improving the entry level Rogers Mastercard and now have done the same for the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard. Granted, to get the most out of the cards it pays to be a Rogers customer but even if you are not don’t ignore the World Elite version of the card as it is the best overall no fee cash back credit card in Canada with its 1.5% base earn rate, 3% on U.S. purchases, airport lounge access membership and good insurance benefits.
