New accelerated earn rates for TD Cash Back and TD Rewards credit cards

Here is our third and final post covering all of the changes coming out of TD today for most of their credit cards! This post will look at the additional accelerated earn rates being added to the TD Cash Back Visa, TD Cash Back Visa Infinite Card, TD Platinum Travel Visa Card and TD Rewards Visa Card. These changes are effective as of April 30, 2025

Cash Back Cards: New Accelerated Earn Rates on Public Transit, Streaming, Gaming & Digital Purchases and EV Charging

TD has added further accelerated earn rates on their cash back cards for the following types of purchases.

TD Cash Back Visa Infinite Card

Public Transit Purchases – Earn 3% in Cash Back Dollars on Public Transit Purchases. (Annual cap: $15,000)

Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases – These are being added into the Pre-Authorized Purchases accelerated earn rates the card has. Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases will earn 3% in cash back dollars (Annual cap: $15,000 for PAP and Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media combined)

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging  –  These are being added into the gas purchase accelerated earn rates the card offers. EV Charging will earn 3% in cash back dollars (Annual cap remains at $15,000 for this gas+EV category)

 

TD Cash Back Visa Card

Public Transit Purchases – Earn 1% in Cash Back Dollars on Public Transit Purchases. (Annual cap: $5,000)

Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases – These are being added into the Pre-Authorized Purchases accelerated earn rates the card has. Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases will earn 1% in cash back dollars (Annual cap: $5,000 for PAP and Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media combined)

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging  –  These are being added into the gas purchase accelerated earn rates the card offers. EV Charging will earn 1% in cash back dollars (Annual cap remains at $5,000 for this gas+EV category)

TD Rewards Cards: New Accelerated Earn Rates on Public Transit, Streaming, Gaming & Digital Purchases and Drinking Establishments

TD has added further accelerated earn rates to the cards for the following types of purchases:

TD Platinum Travel Visa* Card

Public Transit Purchases – Earn 4.5 TD Rewards Points for every $1 in Public Transit Purchases. (Annual cap: $15,000)

Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases – These are being added into the Pre-Authorized Purchases accelerated earn rates the card has. Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases Earn 3 TD Rewards Points for every $1 (Annual cap:  $15,000 for PAP and Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media combined)

Drinking Establishments –  These are being added into the Grocery and Restaurant purchases accelerated earn rates the card offers. Drinking Establishments (such as bars, nightclubs, and cocktail lounges) will earn 4.5 TD Rewards Points for every $1  (Annual cap remains at $15,000 for this category)

 

TD Rewards Visa* Card

Public Transit Purchases – Earn 3 TD Rewards Points for every $1 in Public Transit Purchases. (Annual cap: $5,000)

Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases – These are being added into the Pre-Authorized Purchases accelerated earn rates the card has. Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media Purchases Earn 2 TD Rewards Points for every $1 (Annual cap:  $5,000 for PAP and Streaming, Digital Gaming & Media combined)

Drinking Establishments –  These are being added into the Grocery and Restaurant purchases accelerated earn rates the card offers. Drinking Establishments (such as bars, nightclubs, and cocktail lounges) will earn 3 TD Rewards Points for every $1  (Annual cap remains at $5,000 for this category)

Changes to interest rates & fees

Like the other TD cards receiving updates, these cards are seeing changes to the rates and fees on the cards. The purchase interest rate and cash advance rates will be bumped up to 21.99% from 20.99% (most banks seem to be going to 21.99% now) They are also increasing the fee on balance transfers from 3% to up to 5% and credit balances if not used within 12 months will be subject to a $10 fee.
