RWRDS Canada reached out to WestJet who have confirmed with us the new data roaming and H&R Block discount benefits that WestJet provided details on this past weekend will be available on all Canadian World Elite Mastercards. At this point I would assume this will also be extended to World Mastercards but we still have to confirm it.
This comes hot on the heels of the news of World and World Elite Mastercards losing their free Boingo global Wi-Fi benefit at the end of this month.
The new World Elite Mastercard data roaming and H&R Block discount benefits
Starting on October 1, 2024 Canadian issued World Elite Mastercards will receive 3 x 1GB FlexiRoam global data packs to cardholders and it will also offer a 30% off discount for tax-filing services with H&R Block.
FlexiRoam global data packs
The new 3 x 1GB FlexiRoam global data packs will be a welcome addition to the cards as it will provide more flexibility when compared to the Boingo Wi-Fi benefit. You won’t have to search out Wi-Fi hotspots and instead be able to use data wherever you are in eligible countries outside of Canada.
Although it is has not been revealed yet I would assume this FlexiRoam benefit will be available annually.
Once this benefit goes live I’ll be sure to provide an update on how it works (if you want to know sooner this RFD thread should answer all questions on how Flexiroam works)
30% discount with H&R Block
The other new benefit that is being added to the card is 30% off tax-filing services with H&R Block. Other than stating more details will come on October 1st we don’t know more about this, albeit it seems a pretty straightforward benefit.
Wrapping it up
We now know the new credit card benefits that WestJet provided details on for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard will be applicable to all World Elite Mastercards issued in Canada. This should be implemented on October 1st, 2024 at which time we hope to have the complete details on how they will work and be applied for those who wish to use them.
