BMO VIPorter Mastercard

Porter Airlines credit cards will be issued by BMO – Join the wait list and earn up to 10,000 VIPorter points

Porter Airlines co-brand credit cards are one step closer to reality with the announcement that the cards will be issued by BMO.  The BMO VIPorter Mastercard suite of cards will become available to Canadians in spring 2025. Details of the card offerings should be provided closer to the launch date.

Join the waitlist and get up to 10,000 points when getting the card

Right now VIPorter members (free to join) can add their name to the wait list for the cards. Once the cards are released those one the wait list can receive up to 10,000 extra VIPorter points over and above the welcome bonus when applying and being approved for one of the cards. The key wording from Porter and BMO  is “up to” so my best guess is that the lower version of the card (Either just a Mastercard or World Mastercard) will most likely have an extra 5,000 point bonus while a premium version (World Elite Mastercard) will come with the 10,000 extra points.

Very few details at this point

Today’s new release is primarily a teaser from Porter and BMO and a good way for them to get an early indication of interest with the wait list offer. What we know is that there will be more than one card with them using the phrase “A new BMO VIPorter Mastercard suite” and that’s it.

NOTE!! A lot of coverage of the new cards are mistaking Porter’s own benefits (as outlined in the press release) as new benefits that the cards will have. This is not the case – no actual details of the cards have been revealed.

There were surveys sent out in 2024 asking VIPorter members thoughts on certain benefits etc. and some of these included free seat selection but of course none of this concrete. We’ll just have to wait to see what the actual card offerings will be in the coming months.

Of note, another key line in the press release is

“The new card will empower VIPorter members to build points quickly for redemption across Porter’s expanding North American network, as well as introduce the redemption of points on Porter’s growing list of global airline partners.”

We know you’ll be able to redeem VIPorter points in short time on Alaska Airlines but they pluralized airline partners so hopefully that will mean even more airlines that you’ll be able to use VIPorter points on.
