Hot on the heels of Etihad’s Race to Fly Challenge, we have Ethiopian Airlines offering a very similar promotion to win ShebaMiles for flying to their new destinations with their 1 Million Sweepstakes Challenge.

Ethiopian’s promotion starts on June 1 and will award 200,000 ShebaMiles to five lucky flyers who fly round trip flights to four of five of the airline’s new destinations plus complete one additional round trip to any of Ethiopian’s existing international destinations by November 30. All flights must be revenue (paid) tickets and exclude one way or open jaw flights.

Fly to four of these five cities

These are Ethiopian’s 5 new cities to which you need to fly four round trips to or from:

  • Sharjah (Launches June 1)
  • Hyderabad (Launches June 16)
  • Porto (Launches July 2)
  • Hanoi (Launches July 10)
  • Abu Dhabi (Launches July 15)

And then fly one round trip to any existing international destination served by Ethiopian Airlines.

The five winners of 200,000 miles:

200,000 miles (1 million miles in total) will be awarded to five winners based on the shortest time to travel to four of the new cities, then fare class purchased and then length of membership in ShebaMiles

Ethiopian Airlines is running a promotion that is very similar in nature to Etihad’s Race to Fly Challenge to encourage travel to new cities flown to by the airline. This is another challenge that may prove difficult for those based in Canada – you could knock out your first round trip with long stay Ethiopian’s Toronto- Addis Ababa booking and then in-between your inbound and outbound flights complete round trips to the four new cities. The earliest the challenge could be completed is right around July 10 with the launch of Hanoi as you can could complete Sharjah, Hyderabad and Porto prior to that.

Earn bonus miles on these new routes!

As with all of Ethiopian’s new routes, there are route launch bonuses to earn extra ShebaMiles for the first month of the airline flying the route:

Terms and conditions:

  • Offer applies to ShebaMiles members (existing and new members) who will take a return trip to/from four of the five new destinations; PLUS, one additional return trip to/from any of ET’s existing international destinations; from Jun 01- Nov 30, 2025 (six months starting from the inaugural date of SHJ on June 1, 2025).
  • Members must book their flight on Ethiopian website or mobile app to be eligible for this offer
  • Only round-trip tickets will be considered for this offer.  Members must at least travel their outbound trip until Nov 30, 2025.
  • One way and open jaw tickets will not be eligible to participate in this offer.
  • Only revenue tickets will be considered for this offer- ShebaMiles award tickets are excluded.
  • Members must have their flight credited to their ShebaMiles account to be eligible for this competition.
  • 1 Million Miles will be equally distributed to 5 lucky winners each winning 200,000 Miles.  The five winners will be shortlisted based on the 3 criteria below:
  1. Shortest time taken to travel to four of the five new destinations.
  2. Fare brand purchased according to this order: Cloud Nine Deluxe (CD), Cloud Nine Restricted (CX), Economy Flex (EF), Economy Semi Flex (ES), Economy Promo (EP)
  3. ShebaMiles membership period.
  • Winner will be notified on December 01, 2025.
  • The campaign is based on latest launch date of the 5 destinations- SHJ on June 1, 2025; HYD on June 16, 2025; OPO on July 02, 2025; HAN on July 10, 2025; and AUH on July 15, 2025. In the instance that any of the new routes get cancelled or extended beyond November 30, 2025, the route will be exempted from the challenge and the challenge will go ahead with the rest of the remaining routes.
  • Once the campaign ends on November 30, 2025, no further retro claims will be processed towards identifying the winners.
