Scene+ is the second loyalty program this week to announce changes to their terms and conditions. The changes are effective as of December 1st and outside of one of them, they are relatively minor and shouldn’t affect any members day to day use of the program.
Here is how Scene+ describes the changes:
The changes include enhancing Scene+ Travel earn rates for certain activities, updates to enhance account security, and improved clarity regarding the benefits of some of our existing programs.
New Travel Earn Rate for “Things to do” (Activities and more)
The most notable change is a good one – as of December 1st Scene+ members will earn 3 Scene+ Points per $1 spent on the “Things to do” category on Scene+ Travel. This is in addition to the current 3 points per dollar earned on hotel stays and car rentals booked via Scene+ Travel.
The “Things to do” category consists of extras like tours, excursions and other activities around the world that you can book via Scene+ Travel. Any of these items that you book via Scene+ Travel will earn 3 Scene+ points per dollar spent.
The other terms and conditions changes
In regards to the other changes, I can’t find which of them are specific to “updates to enhance account security, and improved clarity regarding the benefits of some of our existing programs.” If you happen to know or can figure it out please let me know and I’ll update the post accordingly. However in a quick reading of all the terms I don’t really see anything of concern that stands out in the document.
Wrapping it up
Both Aeroplan and Scene+ have now revealed terms and conditions updates this week. Scene+’ changes sees them adding one more avenue for earning points via Scene+ travel and what appear to be minor changes to the terms and conditions that are just that, terms and conditions that most of us don’t tend to worry about at all (unless I missed something in there!)
