Marriott Bonvoy has launched a new mystery bonus for buying their points. This offer runs from May 23 to July 24, 2024. My mystery offer is a good one – up to a 50% bonus. While we have seen 60% in the past (mainly during the pandemic) it is a rarity so to get 50% is great. Let us know in the comments below which offer you get!
The bonus offer I received is awarded as follows:
- Get a 50% bonus when you buy 10,000+ points
- Get a 40% bonus when you buy 2,000–9,000 points

With a 50% bonus you are buying points for 0.833 cents US$ each or about 1.2 to 1.4 cents each in C$ (Depending on which province you are in as the points purchase is subject to GST/HST). We value Marriott Bonvoy points at roughly 1 cent (C$) per point at a minimum. That being said, we always stress it is a minimum. We’ve seen examples where redeeming points provide 2 or 3 cents per point in value. In those cases in can make sense to buy the points as a cost savings measure against the sky high hotel prices we are seeing for stays all around the globe!
It should be noted you can “buy points” even cheaper if you have upcoming Marriott hotel stays and those locations have a bonus points offer in place. For example, right now Marriott is offering 3,500 bonus points on stays of 2+ nights at all locations in Canada and the U.S. for the summer. In our post from earlier this week we had an example of the Four Points by Sheraton Edmonton West where the bonus points rate was $6 more than the best member flexible rate and $28 more than the CAA rate. In the first case if you are not a CAA member you are essentially buying 3,500 for $6 or 0.17 cents (C$) each. That’s around 85% less than buying the points with a bonus from Marriott. In the case of the CAA rate you getting the bonus points for 0.8 cents each – still less than buying points with a bonus. And these bonus points from stays don’t count towards you yearly limit of truly buying points from Marriott. Just some food for thought if you have paid Marriott stays coming up.
The best way to see if a hotel has a bonus points offer in place is to visit our Marriott bonus points page, we have the most extensive coverage of Marriott Bonvoy promotions and every other loyalty program for that matter.
