Finnair Plus is offering up to a 50% discount when you buy Avios through them by November 20. With this promotion you can buy Avios for around 1.58 cents (C$) each + GST/HST if you buy 100,000 or more Avios. The 50% discount actually starts at 75,000 Avios but they charge slight more for Avios purchased between the 75,000 and 99,000 level.
Earlier this year Finnair Plus joined the family of programs utilizing Avios as their currency which means you can buy them through Finnair and then transfer them over to British Airway Executive Club. You can choose to use them via BA or transfer them further on to Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Iberia Plus or Aer Lingus Aer Club.

Wrapping it up
To the best of my knowledge this price is lower than the price seen with bonuses from British Airways or Qatar Airways. In fact this could be the lowest price we’ve ever seen from any of the programs. So if you are looking to redeem Avios for Qatar Airways’ famed Qsuites or other business or first class options across these airlines and their oneworld partners – this buy Avios option from Finnair should be considered as long as you can redeem for roughly 2 cents or more in value per Avios.
As always though we heed caution about buying any Avios/Miles/Points speculatively – it’s always better to have a redemption planned to use the loyalty currency right away. As pointed out by one of our readers I may have misinterpreted the terms. If you transfer Avios purchased via Finnair to British Airways they should fall under BA’s terms who have the better expiry policy. However, if you do buy speculatively you need to beware of Finnair’s 18 month expiry policy and specifically that transferring to them BA does not have them fall under BA’s 36 month expiry policy:
