Buy HawaiianMiles with a 100% bonus

Last Call: Receive a 100% bonus when buying Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles (1.27 US cents each + transfer 1:1 to Alaska)

Hawaiian Airlines is offering a 100% bonus for buying HawaiianMiles until November 15 and this is a good way to score some Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles on the cheap!

Buy miles bonuses from Hawaiian Airlines are quite rare (only happen once or twice per year at most) and with the airline now owned by Alaska Airlines it’s somewhat surprising to see this offer come out! The reason why is that as part of the approval of the takeover, HawaiianMiles can be converted to Mileage Plan on a 1:1 basis and Mileage Plan miles have never been available this cheap via Alaska’s own buy miles option!

The 100% bonus miles offer

Receive a 100% bonus when you buy 3,000 or more HawaiianMiles. Offer valid until Nov 15, 24. Click here for more details and to buy miles.

With this offer you can buy HawaiianMiles for 1.27 cents each and the lowest price for buying Mileage Plan miles that I can recall has been 1.61 cents each (70% bonus). For us Canadians we do have to pay GST/HST as Points.com who is selling the miles is a Canadian company. That puts the price around 1.33 US cents per mile where only GST is charged and up to 1.46 US cents for the Atlantic provinces with their high HST rate. In the end the miles will end up roughly costing between 1.84 and 2.03 cents per mile in Canadian dollars.

You can buy up to 100,000 miles per transaction (200,000 with the bonus) and there is no annual limit on the number of miles that you can buy so you can complete multiple purchases if you so desire.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles can then be redeemed on any of their oneworld partners including Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways plus some of their non-alliance partners like Condor (this is a good option to get to Europe for Albertans)

You could also choose to keep them as HawaiianMiles as Hawaiian Airlines has some decent redemption rates between the U.S. and the Hawaiian Islands in both economy and business class. You would just need to work on positioning flights for those redemptions as well (Those could be done via Alaska Airlines!)
