When does it make sense to buy miles?

It can if you need to top off your account like mentioned above or if you are searching availability and find a redemption where the value is at least 2.8 cents per mile (in C$). With a 30% discount, the per mile cost is 1.83 cents in US$ or about 2.5 cents in C$.
