Air Canada Aeropla’s current buy points promotion provides members with the opportunity to receive up to a 30% discount when buying points by February 18, 2025.
The up to 30% discount offer:
Receive up a 30% discount when you buy 10,000 or more Aeroplan points. Offer valid to Feb 18, 25. Click here to buy points.
Discounts as follows:
(a) Receive a 15% discount on Aeroplan points when a minimum of 10,000 Eligible Aeroplan points and up to a maximum of 19,000 Eligible Aeroplan points are bought and/or gifted (no discount Aeroplan points will be issued if less than 10,000 Aeroplan points are bought and/or gifted).
(b) Receive a 20% discount on Aeroplan points when a minimum of 20,000 Eligible Aeroplan points and up to a maximum of 75,000 Eligible Aeroplan points are bought and/or gifted.
(c) Receive a 25% discount on Aeroplan points when a minimum of 80,000 Eligible Aeroplan points and up to a maximum of 95,000 Eligible Aeroplan points are bought and/or gifted.
(d) Receive a 30% discount on Aeroplan points when more 100,000 Eligible Aeroplan points or more are bought and/or gifted
Does it make sense to buy points?
When you buy points with a 30% discount your cost on each point is 2.45 cents (C$) each before taxes (2.57-2.82 cents with taxes, depending on which province you live in).
We value Aeroplan points at a minimum of 1.5 cents each but the program does provide the ability to get much more than that. If you find the right award flights at the right time you can easily redeem points with values well over 2 cents per point. However with this promotion the price for the points with the discount it quite high – I would only buy if you are in a pinch otherwise pass on this offer. If you don’t need points right now wait until a better buy points offer comes along like a 100% bonus which brings the price down to below 2 cents.

Wrapping it up
The up to 30% discount for buying Air Canada Aeroplan points is not one of the better offers from Air Canada and really should passed on unless you are in dire need of some points immediately. As always we do not recommend buying points speculatively and to just wait for the next sale!
