AIR MILES have a launched an excellent bonus offer to earn 950 miles on flights to Europe with Canada’s second largest airline, WestJet.
The 950 bonus AIR MILES offer
Right now collectors will earn 950 bonus AIR MILES on WestJet flights to any European destination that are booked by June 30 via AIR MILES Travel. The offer is valid for travel at any time with no black out dates (that means you should be able to book for travel until the end of WestJet’s current schedule)
I am assuming the bonus is good only for tickets purchased by credit card. The terms and conditions are incomplete and don’t mention if you get the bonus on full or partial mileage redemptions but if the majority of AIR MILES past bonuses’ for travel bookings are any indication, then this bonus will only be for paid tickets.
They also don’t mention if round trip travel is required or if one way flights are eligible to earn the bonus as well. Nor do they let us know if you can earn the bonus only once or multiple times.
It’s a big bonus with lots of value!
950 miles is a great bonus that is worth almost $100 when redeemed as Cash Miles and represents an excellent return on spending if you can score a cheaper flight across the pond!
Here’s an example of an Ultra Basic fare between Toronto and Edinburgh which you could earn the bonus on:
With nearly $100 in value from the bonus that’s like getting over a 12% rebate on this flight. The base fare is only $15 hence the “Get up to 1 Mile” which is what a Blue collector would earn on this flight not including the bonus (See the next section)
Earn even more AIR MILES on these WestJet flights
In addition to the bonus miles that you can earn above you’ll also receive the base AIR MILES on your standalone bookings as follows:
- Onyx Collectors – 1 Reward Mile for every $5 spent (on base fares only)
- Gold Collectors – 1 Reward Mile for every $10 spent (on base fares only)
- Blue Collectors – 1 Reward Mile for every $15 spent (on base fares only)
The 950 bonus miles really comes in handy on these bookings since base fares to Europe are always ridiculously low so you won’t earn many base AIR MILES. The above example with a $15 base fare would mean an earning of 1 mile for Blue and Gold Collectors and then 3 miles for Onyx Collectors.
You could earn even more miles by paying with a BMO AIR MILES®† MasterCard®* or a BMO AIR MILES®† World Elite®* MasterCard®* as both of these cards earn 3x miles on AIR MILES Travel Purchases. That translates to 3 Miles per $12 spent on the World Elite card and 3 Miles per $25 spend on the no fee AIR MILES card.
The credit card earn rate is on the total price so if we take the above example a BMO AIR MILES World Elite Mastercard holder would earn 67 miles on the purchase plus 3 miles for the base fare (World Elite gives automatic Onyx status) and then the 950 bonus miles for a total 1,020 miles. That’s not a bad haul of miles on an $809 ticket!

As long as you book an eligible fare class you will also earn WestJet points on these flights based on the tier status level with the airline. (Eligible fares any except for Ultra Basic, so the above example wouldn’t earn points)

We have an excellent AIR MILES bonus offer on WestJet flights to Europe which is a welcome boost to what are typically very low mileage earning flights.
