As you can see from the example the bonus points rate prices the same as the best non-member flexible rate and is $18 more than the best member rate. With 5,000 points being worth C$50 it can make sense to go for the bonus points rate to come out $32 ahead (it will all depend on what you personally value Marriott Bonvoy points at)

You can see in the above example the AAA/CAA rate prices $52 less than the bonus points rate.
