Big news out of Alaska Airlines today! As part of their Investors Day the airline has announced they will make their Seattle hub into a global hub with the addition of international flights to Asia, namely Tokyo and Seoul, which will both launch in 2025. This being achieved thanks to their recent takeover of Hawaiian Airlines who have the long haul fleet to be used on these flights. Selfishly, I’m still keeping my hopes up we will see Hawaiian launch flights between Canada and Hawaii but with their focus on the rest of the global market I’m sure they’ll just continue to funnel Canadian travellers through Seattle.
Also as part of the announcement today, Alaska Airlines has confirmed the launch of a premium credit card in the U.S. market in 2025, so not really news for us unless you are playing the U.S. credit card game. What is noteworthy is they are rewarding members with 500 miles for pre-registering to be notified of when the card launches. Based on the T&Cs this pre-registration offer seems open to anyone who registers, so us as Canadians should be able to get these miles!
All you have to do is fill out the form on their pre-registration page by December 31, 2024:
and voila!
The terms state the miles should post within four weeks of registering for the offer. So I guess we’ll have to wait to see if the miles post for non-U.S. members but for the 5-10 seconds it takes to fill in that form you really should do it.
