Today officially marks the launch of the updated Business Platinum Card from American Express which also includes a new limited time increased welcome bonus of up to 120,000 points.. The card now includes the $200 annual travel credit that is synonymous with the consumer version of the card and several other credits including an $120 annual credit for wireless services. The annual fee for the card is now $799 which is up from the previous $499.

The new welcome bonus offer on the card is awarded as follows:
- Earn 80,000 Membership Rewards® points after you charge $15,000 in net purchases to your Card in your first 3 months of Cardmembership.
- Plus, earn 40,000 points when you make a purchase between 14 and 17 months of Cardmembership.
New Benefits
Annual Travel Credit
The card now offers an annual travel credit which can be used toward any single travel booking of $200 or more on your Card, made through American Express Travel Online or Platinum Card Travel Service.
Wireless Services Credit
Starting October 1st, Business Platinum Cardmembers can enroll and earn up to $120 in statement credits each year for wireless services charged to their Card. They can spend $10 each month with eligible wireless service providers and get a $10 credit, up to 12 times in a 12-month period, up to a maximum of $120 CAD
Annual Value Credits
Both the consumer and business Platinum Cards will receive exclusive annual credits from select merchants. For the Business Cards they are currently offering up to $500 in annual statement credits with Dell ($200) and Indeed ($300)
NEXUS Credits
Business Platinum cards now receive the up to $100 NEXUS credit that we have seen on the consumer. This credit is available once every four years.
Mobile Device Insurance added
The Business Platinum card now offers Mobile Device Insurance coverage just like the consumer Platinum Card.
Existing Benefits
Everything else on the card remains the same as before. The airport lounge access, International Airline Program, earning and redeeming options have not changed.
Increased Annual Fee
Of course with all the added benefits (which virtually mirror the consumer card now) the previous fee of $499 could not be maintained. As of today (Sep 26) the annual fee on the primary card is $799
Additional (supplementary) card fees increase to $250 for Platinum versions. If you choose the additional Gold card, of which you can up to 99, those remain at $0 each.
Wrapping it up
The changes to the Business Platinum Card from American Express are officially here. The card has a lot added to it so that it better matches the consumer Platinum Card but that also comes with an annual fee that matches as well! Still, for $799 you get a lot of value with this card not to mention an increased welcome bonus offer of up to 120,000 points.
