Earn up to 115,000 points on the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card

American Express has come out with new bonus offers on some of their cards today. The first one we take a look at is the new up to 115,000 welcome bonus points on the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card.

The up to 115,000 Aeroplan Points bonus

From today until July 24, 2023 new American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Cardmembers can earn up to 115,000 welcome bonus points as follows:

Earn 45,000 Aeroplan points after spending $6,000 in net purchases on your Card within the first 3 months of Cardmembership
Plus, you can also earn 7,500 Aeroplan points for each monthly billing period in which you spend $2,000 in net purchases on your Card for the first 6 months of Cardmembership. That could add up to 45,000 Aeroplan points
You can also earn 25,000 Aeroplan points when you make a purchase between 14 and 17 months of Cardmembership

With this bonus we see the return of Amex awarding additional points for holding on to the card for a second year with 25,000 points being awarded on as little as a $1 purchase made between months 14 – 17.

Rewards Canada values Aeroplan points at a minimum of 1.5 cents each and that really is a minimum as most Aeroplan members should be able to get more value than that out of each points. That puts the value of this 115,000 point bonus at $1,725. Bottom line net value if you subtract two years of annual fees you are looking at $527. That being said you also have to consider all the extra benefits this card provides like free checked baggage, lounge access, NEXUS credit and much more.

Wrapping it up

Another summer of bigger bonuses on select cards from American Express is now here. For 2023 Amex is focusing on their co-brand partnership cards for Aeroplan and Marriott with some really attractive welcome offers. All of them do require you to hold onto the card for a second year which isn’t a huge deal in our minds as any of these four cards are keeper cards for the benefits they provide.
