United Transfer Bonus

Receive a 25% bonus when you convert hotel points to United MileagePlus Miles

United has brought back their annual bonus for converting hotel points to MileagePlus miles. This time they have gone back to a flat bonus of 25% rather than the tiered bonus we only saw in 2024. The 2025 offer of 25% is lower than the 30% we saw as the max bonus in 2024 and the flat rate bonus in 2023 and previous years before that.

The 25% Transfer Bonus:

Receive 25% bonus MileagePlus Miles when you convert any hotel program partner points into United MileagePlus Miles. Max. bonus of 25,000 miles per member. Valid until Oct 31, 25. Click here for more details & to register for this offer. (Registration is required)

The 25% bonus is awarded on all cumulative transfers and all members can earn a maximum of 25,000 bonus miles each with this promotion.

Should you transfer points?

In most cases the only transfer that makes sense is converting Marriott Bonvoy points since they transfer at a 3 to 1 ratio. It does have to be noted the 10,000 bonus miles that MileagePlus members get from Marriott each time they transfer 60,000 points is excluded from earning the 25% bonus.

So for example, if you do transfer 60,000 Bonvoy Points to MileagePlus Miles you should end up with 35,000 miles:

  • 20,000 miles from the 3:1 ratio plus the 25% bonus = 25,000 miles
  • Bonus for transferring 60,000 points = 10,000 miles
  • Total = 35,000 miles

All other hotel programs have pretty terrible conversion ratios to MileagePlus, however if you have orphaned points in those programs that you know you’ll never use for actual stays, by all means convert them over so you can get some sort of value from them.

Wrapping it up

The annual “any hotel partner” transfer bonus from United MileagePlus is back as a single 25% bonus for 2025.  This amount is lower than the 30% we have seen for many years past, nonetheless, it can be useful if you are looking to boost your MileagePlus account for any potential flight redemptions you may have in mind.
