Air Canada adds new transborder routes for the 2026 summer season
Air Canada has announced some new transborder routes that are launching in Summer 2026. The airline will offer new flights between Toronto and San Antonio, Texas as well as new flights from Montreal to Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.

RIU Hotels moves into Canada with the RIU Plaza Toronto
RIU Hotels are best known to Canadians for their resort destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean that we go to to escape our winters and it looks like they are banking on that brand recognition here at home with the RIU brand coming into Canada!
The newly built RIU Toronto Plaza is now officially open in Toronto’s entertainment district and features 352 rooms across 23 floors of a mixed use building. The hotel is part of RIU’s Urban hotels which now features a dozen hotels in prime city locations. Overall the RIU brand has over 100 propreties in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Guests who stay at the hotel can join the RIU Class loyalty program to receive a member discount and earn points on their stays at the new Toronto location.

PSA! Check your Triangle Rewards Account for fraudulent activity
Over on the Rewards Canada subreddit one of our members posted a warning about fraudulent activity with their Triangle Rewards account. We’re are passing along this news to reach more of our community:
“A couple of days ago I got an email from Canadian Tire to rate a product, but I hadn’t bought anything from there recently. Someone in another province purchased something and used my entire balance of nearly $250 worth of points (which I desperately need for buying gas because I currently have no income and running out of savings). I called them immediately and they’ve opened a fraud investigation. I should get my points back within a couple of weeks they said. I was told that this has happened a lot recently and they’re not sure how the scammers are getting the numbers. “
This is exactly what has been happening with PC Optimum for several years now and it appears these scammers are expanding the programs they are targeting with Triangle telling this member that this has happened a lot recently. We have also seen this happen with Aeroplan where member’s accounts have been drained for rewards that are hard to track like those from Uber and Starbucks. I also suspect something like this may the reason why we see AIR MILES miles transfer always shutting down (Pure speculation on my part though about AIR MILES)
So please be vigilant and keep track of your loyalty program accounts closely! The sooner you come across fraudulent activity and bring it to the attention of the program, the better chance you have of the program reimbursing you with the points, money, miles etc. that you lost.
