Big 100,000 point bonuses on the CIBC Small Business Aventura and Aeroplan cards!

CIBC recently updated the welcome bonus offers on their suite of Aeroplan and Aventura small business credit cards! All versions of the cards are now available with limited time offer of 100,000 Aeroplan or Aventura points along with no annual fee in the first year. If you run a business and can achieve the required spending to earn one of these bonuses – you should definitely consider applying as they provide some really big value!

The CIBC Aeroplan Visa Business Card offers

CIBC® Aeroplan® Visa* Business Plus Card

The lower fee version ($120/yr) of CIBC’s Business Aeroplan cards provides up to 100,000 Aeroplan points and an annual fee rebate. The CIBC Aeroplan Visa Business Plus Card is a card that uses the business’ liability for the application criteria versus the individual applicant’s personal liability.

The welcome offer is broken down as follows:

  • 10,000 Aeroplan points when the first eligible purchase is made
  • 50,000 Aeroplan points when $20,000 or more is spent during the first 6 monthly statement periods
  • An additional bonus of 40,000 Aeroplan points when $40,000 or more is spent in the first year

The card also features 4 complimentary Maple Leaf Lounge One-Time Guest Passes per year and provides a first check bag free benefit on Air Canada flights.

All told the points are worth no less than $1,500 (we value Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents each) but for saavy points maximizers it can be worth much more than that. However to earn all the points you must complete spend over the course of twelve months and have to pay the $120 annual fee in the second year giving an overall minimum value of $1,380. Do note to receive the entire bonus you do have to be able to spend $40,000 over the course of the first year

CIBC® Aeroplan® Visa* Business Card

The CIBC Aventura Visa Business Card offers

CIBC Aventura Visa* Business Plus Card

CIBC® Aventura Visa* Business Card

Both of CIBC’s Business Aventura cards provide up to 100,000 Aventura points and an annual fee rebate in the first year. The CIBC Aventura Visa Business Plus Card is a card that uses the business’ liability for the application criteria while the CIBC Aventura Visa Business  Card uses the individual applicant’s personal liability for the application criteria.

The welcome offer is broken down as follows:

  • 20,000 Aventura Points when the first purchase is made
  • 80,000 Aventura Points when $40,000 or more is spent in the first 8 monthly statement periods

Those 100,000 points are worth a minimum of $1,000 towards any travel that you book via CIBC Rewards but can work out to as much as $2,000 as you can get 2 cents per point in value when redeeming for flights using the Aventura Airline Rewards Chart. And as the entire bonus can be earned within the first year we don’t deduct any annual fees in our baseline valuation of the welcome bonus. Do note to receive the entire bonus you do have to be able to spend $40,000 over the course of the first eight months.

Wrapping it up

For the second time this year we see CIBC making a big push for acquiring small business customers with 100,000 point welcome bonus offers on all four of their major travel rewards cards. The big bonuses also come with big spend requirements when compared to some competing cards but if you can meet those requirements you will be handsomely rewarded!
