Continuing on with our new hotel openings in Canada series we now take a look at what Hyatt has planned for 2019.
Out of the major hotel chains, Hyatt Hotels are one of the smallest with less then 1,000 hotels globally and there presence in Canada reflects that with only nine hotels operating here. This number is changing relatively fast, I recall only a couple of years ago when they only had four hotels across our country.
The Hyatt family of hotels include the following brands of which you’ll currently find Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Andaz and Hyatt Place in Canada
For 2019 we have three more confirmed Hyatt openings including the first Hyatt House in Canada:
- Hyatt Place Calgary Airport
- just opened on January 29
- Hyatt House Winnipeg South West
- Slated Opening – Summer 2019
- Hyatt Place Mississauga Centre
- Slated Opening – unknown
There are also another 5 hotels in the works that are listed in Hyatt’s communications for 2019 openings but in our discussions with Hyatt these hotels may not actually be opening this year:
- Hyatt Place Brampton (123 guestrooms) in Brampton, Ontario
- Hyatt Place Kelowna (161 guestrooms) in Kelowna, British Columbia
- Hyatt Place Moncton (120 guestrooms) in Moncton, New Brunswick
- Hyatt Place Winnipeg Downtown (144 guestrooms) in Winnipeg, Manitoba
- Hyatt House Hamilton/McMaster University (135 guestrooms) in Hamilton, Ontario
Along with that there are four more hotels in the works for 2020:
- Hyatt Place Toronto International Airport (196 guestrooms) in Toronto, Ontario
- Hyatt Place Toronto Airport Corporate Centre and Hyatt House
Toronto Airport Corporate Centre (250 guestrooms) in Toronto, Ontario - Hyatt Place Vancouver Airport (97 guestrooms) in Vancouver, British Columbia
With all these slated hotel opening over the next year or two Hyatt will effectively be more than doubling there presence here in Canada from the current 9 hotels (well 10 if included the Park Hyatt Toronto which is currently closed for renovations) to 21 hotels.
It is nice to see Hyatt expanding there presence here in Canada by adding these hotels. There presence will still be on the lower end when compared to other major chains but nonetheless we are excited to see them grow. It will give all us Canadian World Of Hyatt members more places to earn points that aren’t off in far flung destinations!
Remember to take advantage of all the possible World Of Hyatt bonus
points offers if you plan on staying at any of these
new Hyatt hotels or any other Hyatt hotels for that matter! You can find all
the promotions listed on our World Of Hyatt Bonus Points page.
