To celebrate the launch of the WestJet Rewards eStore the airline is offering all members 250 bonus points on their first purchase at participating retailers. The WestJet Rewards eStore is the newest online shopping portal available to Canadians and was launched as part of the entire program revamp last week.
When you shop online at any participating retailers you can earn 1 to 5 WestJet points per dollar spent plus any promotional bonuses on top of that.
The 250 point bonus should be awarded on any eligible purchase that will earn at least 1 WestJet Point. (I am making this assumption as I cannot find any terms and conditions for the bonus points offer)

If you are already familiar with other online shopping portals you’ll need no introduction to WestJet’s portal which is in fact operated by the same company that runs Aeroplan’s eStore. If you are not familiar with online shopping portals they are essentially shopping malls where you can earn points, miles, cash back (depending on the loyalty program/operator) for shopping online with numerous retailers.
Basically when you log into your account in the shopping portal, we’ll use WestJet in this example since this bonus is for WestJet Rewards and then click on one of the retailers to shop online, WestJet will earn a commission on that sale and they then pay you part of that affiliate commission in WestJet points. The key factor with any online shopping portal is to complete you purchase in one fell swoop – if you leave the retailer’s site, open up another tab and bring up that retailer, etc. you will most likely remove WestJet’s (or any other portal’s) tracking and you won’t earn the points/miles/cash back. If you do happen to do that you need to go back to portal, click the link and start over again.
