This past week U.S. carrier JetBlue announced Halifax as their second Canadian destination after Vancouver. The airline which has flown to Vancouver for a couple of years now will be adding summer seasonal service between Halifax and Boston.
The Halifax – Boston route
This route will be operated once daily with Airbus A220-300 aircraft starting on June 26, 2025 out of Boston and the first flight out of Halifax will be on June 27. The service will run until September 2, 2025. Flights are timed for easy connections to and from other JetBlue flights out of their Boston hub.

Earning & redeeming points & miles on these flights
JetBlue does not have any Canadian airline frequent flyer partnerships so your best bets are to choose to earn and redeem JetBlue TrueBlue points, American AAdvantage Miles or even Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios on these flights. In fact, for most Canadians it is probably best to credit to Qatar Airways as the Avios can then be moved over to other Avios programs like British Airways Club, Iberia Plus or used directly with Qatar.
Redemption wise the flights are already bookable via Qatar Airways using Avios so you could choose to move American Express Membership Rewards points or RBC Avion Rewards points over to British Airways Club and then transfer them to QR’s Privilege Club for this redemption:
You could also go the route of a proprietary credit card reward program to redeem points for flights you book directly with JetBlue and charge to your credit card. Most cards offer this option with American Express Membership Rewards and Scotiabank Scene+ being some of the top options to utilize for this method.

Wrapping it up
2024 was a huge year for Halifax in terms of adding new airlines and flights and that trend looks to be continuing for 2025! The Nova Scotia city already counts American, Delta and United as U.S. airlines serving the city (Some of which are adding more flights for 2025 – I still have to write about those!) and now JetBlue is added into the mix as well.
