The expanded, full fledged partnership between AIR MILES and Pharmasave has officially kicked off! As announced this past May, the two companies who have partnered for many years now in Atlantic Canada have worked to bring the program nationwide to independent Pharmasave locations from coast to coast sans Quebec.
“A core value of Pharmasave is our connection with our customers and communities. Our pharmacies are not just stores; they are personalized hubs of care, independently owned and operated by local entrepreneurs deeply invested in their neighbourhoods,” says Ivan Guillen, CEO of Pharmasave. “Our expanded partnership with AIR MILES will enable our local owners to deliver enhanced value to customers, nurturing their strong relationships and bonds of loyalty within communities. At the same time, it supports our collective mission to empower and incentivize Canadians to take a proactive approach to their health and wellbeing.”

What’s the best credit card to use at Pharmasave?
If you are gung-ho for collecting AIR MILES you’ll want to use a BMO AIR MILES Mastercard for your Pharmasave purchases. Pharmasave is one the eligible AIR MILES partners that you can earn extra miles with on BMO cards which means you’ll earn 3 miles per $12 spend on the BMO AIR MILES World Elite Mastercard 3 miles per $25 on the BMO AIR MILES Mastercard or 4x miles on the BMO AIR MILES World Elite Business Mastercard
If you prefer to earn other credit card miles or points, the “drug store” multiplier is a dying breed in Canada but several cards do still offer one. For those Pharmasave locations that do accept American Express the American Express Gold Rewards Card is an ideal choice with its 2x drug store multiplier. Other decent options are the CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa* Card or CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite* Card with 1.5x points drug store multipliers while the ultra premium BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege card offers 5x points at drug stores which works out to a “real” point value of 3.33 to 4.17 cents per point.
Wrapping it up
AIR MILES collectors can now earn and redeem miles at over 800 Pharmasave locations in Canada outside of Quebec. The expanded partnership keeps the 1 Miles for $10 spent and 95 miles for $10 redemption that has been seen with Pharmasave in Atlantic Canada. It’s good to see AIR MILES add Pharmasave as a fully integrated program partner as it bucks the trend we’ve seen for the past few years of the program losing such partners.
