Hilton’s New Hotel Openings in Canada for 2024

Welcome to part two of our annual series on new hotel openings in Canada! Next up we have Hilton Hotels who are looking at another decent sized expansion in our great country. At the time of posting this article Hilton are planning on opening no less than 10 new hotels in 3 provinces. Let’s take a look at what Hilton has in store for 2024.

Hilton Hotels falls into the category of a major worldwide hotel chain as they have over 7,000 hotels globally and a significant presence here in Canada with nearly 200 hotels in ten provinces.

Hilton Brands

The Hilton family of hotels comprises of 22 brands ranging from nice budget hotels with the Hampton Inn brand to ultra luxurious hotels from the iconic Waldorf Astoria brand.  Here in Canada we currently have eleven of their brands operating which will grow to twelve with the opening of four Spark by Hilton locations this year.

For 2024 there are 10 planned Hilton openings in Canada, several of which were originally planned for 2023 but were moved to this year. Check out last year’s new Hilton Hotel openings here

Highlights:

Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg Downtown

We highlighted the Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg Downtown in last year’s post but with the opening pushed back to 2024, we wanted to highlight it again as in the half dozen or so years we have been covering new hotel openings in Canada, Manitoba has been largely ignored. There aren’t a lot of new hotel openings in this central province so it is good to see this additional option in YWG opening up later this year!

This location is a rebrand and renovation of a Best Western Plus hotel. It is situated right in downtown Winnipeg and within walking distance of the Canada Life Centre (Where the Winnipeg Jets play), the RBC Convention Centre and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Standard flexible rates at this new hotel start around $180 while prepaid non-refundable options bring those down to just over $160 per night. Hilton Honors standard room rewards start at 30,000 points per night.

As with most new Hilton Hotel openings you can earn bonus points during the first few months of opening. For the Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg they are offering 1,000 points (be sure to book the “Free Bonus Points” option to get the bonus points!)

 

Spark by Hilton – Various Locations

 

Here we highlight an entire brand as Hilton is planning on opening their first five Spark locations in Ontario in the latter half of this year. This is one of Hilton’s newest brands of which they have handful of locations that are already open in the U.S.. Locations in Toronto-Markham, Oshawa, Owen Sound and Woodstock will add to this brand that is expected to grow to over 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada in  just a few short years.

Spark by Hilton is described as premium economy lodging option that provides a simple, reliable and comfortable stay for every guest, ​​all at an accessible price. Stay at Spark by Hilton include complimentary breakfast, featuring premium coffee, juice and a signature bagel bar with spreads.

 

Earn more points at these hotels!

If you are planning a stay at any of these new hotels or any Hilton Hotel in Canada or worldwide for that matter remember to take advantage of all the possible Hilton Honors bonus points offers.  At the time of posting this article you can earn up to 2,500 bonus points on every eligible stay at Hilton Hotels worldwide for stays until May 1. You can also buy Hilton Honors points with a 100% bonus until March 12 if you want to redeem points for stays at one of these new hotels and happen to be short some points.

Wrapping it up

With ten new hotels on tap for 2024, Hilton will officially eclipse the 200 locations mark in Canada later this year. It is nice to see Hilton continue to expand their presence here and it is great for Canadian Hilton Honors members to have more locations to earn and burn points at domestically.

While we don’t have a Hilton co-branded credit card here in Canada – hopefully this continued big expansion is incentive for them to do so. In the meantime you can convert American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors so that’s one avenue for you to rack up more points to redeem for free nights at these new or any other Hilton locations.
