Air Canada broadens onboard offerings with new menu items & family in-flight entertainment content

Air Canada has announced some enhancements to their onboard product offerings as well as some new upgrades to the Air Canada app. These include new menu items, a partnership with Mattel to provide additional kids content on the in-flight entertainment system and easier to use mobile boarding passes on the app.

Additional menu items

The expansion of Air Canada’s onboard offerings begins with the addition of a wider variety of menu items:

  • Addition of Earth’s Own oat milk, a Canadian non-dairy milk alternative—a first for a Canadian airline. 
  • New popular beverage choices including: 
    • Blue Moon Belgian White and Hop Valley IPA craft beers, as well as Vizzy Strawberry Orange Mimosa Hard Seltzer.  
    • Rosé from Provence, France and Aperol Spritz (Air Canada Signature Class on international flights). 
  • Butter chicken with rice pilaf and cauliflower peas masala are some of the new menu options available for Premium Economy and Economy customers, on select flights.   

New family content added to in-flight entertainment

Air Canada has partnered with Mattel to offer exclusive content for kids on their in-flight entertainment system. These includes shows such as Hot Wheels in the City, Thomas and Friends: Learning with Thomas, and Barbie’s vlog.

Upgraded Air Canada App 

 

The latest upgrades to the Air Canada App ,which is available on the Apple App Store or Google Play, includes the following:  

  • Mobile boarding passes that are easier to use at security and during boarding with seamless updates 
  • Passport details of Aeroplan members linked to their profile, streamlining international check-in  
  • Easier airport navigation with integrated maps of key Air Canada and Star Alliance airports 
  • Ability for Air Canada Signature Class and Premium Economy customers to pre-order in-flight meals on select international flights departing Canada 

Wrapping it up

Air Canada continues to enhance their onboard product offerings as they set out to do since last fall. It’s nice to see additional menu items being added as many times the offerings can get a bit stale (pardon the pun!) when the menus aren’t changed up – especially if you are very frequent flyer. The additional content for kids is great to help keep them entertained especially if they don’t have a device of their own…. well, of their parents of course.
