New Hyatt Hotel Openings in Canada for 2021 – Now 6 hotels confirmed including the reopening of the Park Hyatt Toronto

Continuing on with our new hotel openings in Canada series we now take a look at what Hyatt has planned for 2021.

Out of the major hotel chains, Hyatt Hotels are
one of the smallest globally and their
presence in Canada reflects that with less than a dozen hotels operating
here.
This number has been changing relatively fast, it was only a couple of years
ago when they only had four hotels across our country and over the next few year they are looking to expand that number.

The Hyatt family of hotels include the following brands of which you’ll
currently find Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Andaz and Hyatt Place in
Canada. World of Hyatt members also have access to Trout Point Lodge in
Nova Scotia via Hyatt’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the
World as well as Spirit Ridge in B.C. as part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection.

For 2021 we have four now have six more confirmed Hyatt openings in Canada:

The slated opening dates are subject to change

The first two hotels in the short list above were originally scheduled to open up in 2020 but the COVID-19 Pandemic pushed those openings back to this year. The Andaz Toronto which was planned to open up this year as well has been pushed back to a 2022 opening (possibly even 2023) and eight more hotels, which are all Hyatt Places and Hyatt Houses in Ontario and Quebec have been moved to 2023 openings. One opening that we don’t know the date of yet, well actually it’s not an opening as the hotel is already operating is that of The Anndore House in Toronto. This boutique hotel is set to become part of Joie de Vivre Hotels which is a small chain of boutique hotels acquired by Hyatt in 2018. This hotel would be the first JdV by Hyatt hotel in Canada. Update!! We now know the Anndore House will become a JdV by Hyatt Hotel sometime in 2021 along with Kitchener’s The Walper.

The Hyatt hotel that was most anticipated for opening in 2020 now becomes the most anticipated opening for 2021. That is the reopening of the Park Hyatt Toronto.  The iconic hotel that is over 80 years old is slated to re-open by June of this year.

In 2020 Hyatt came out with the news that
they are planning to open nearly 200 more hotels in North America by
2022 and Canada had factored in with some decent numbers however as with almost everything these days those numbers have been hampered by the pandemic. Hyatt had originally planned to have close to two dozen hotels in Canada by 2022 but that will now hover around 16 or 17 hotels.  It won’t be until 2023 that we see Hyatt’s next big push here!

It is still nice to see Hyatt continuing to expand their presence here in Canada given the circumstances. The four new locations that we’ll see this year will give all us Canadian World Of Hyatt members a few more
places to earn points that aren’t off in far flung destinations!

Also remember to take advantage of all the possible World Of Hyatt bonus
points offers if you plan on staying at any of these
new Hyatt hotels or any other Hyatt hotels for that matter! There are always new hotel bonuses of 500 points per night that should become available once the hotels open up for reservations. We’ll be sure to let you know about those offers when they are released and as always you can find all
the promotions listed on our World Of Hyatt Bonus Points page.

Are you excited about any of the new Hyatt hotels opening up this year?

woods? Let us know in the comments below.
