Amex Membership Rewards 25% Bonus when transferring to British Airways Executive Club

It's been over 2 years in the making! Too many email and blog comments to count with people asking when it will return. Well it has returned! A transfer bonus from American Express Membership Rewards to British Airways Executive Club! American Express has been telling me for a few months that it would be back and they kept their word! Sure this time it is only a 25% bonus which is less than the last bonus of 50% that was seen in March of 2013 but it is better than not getting a bonus! The offer runs until September 30th!

This is one of the offers I look forward to especially since the base transfer rate to British Airways is 1:1. What does this mean? Well you can redeem for my too often mentioned YYZ-NYC roundtrip flight for only 7,200 Membership Rewards points as that flight can be had for 9,000 Avios* (or as little as $3,600 in spending on the Amex Gold Rewards Card), I believe no other card can match that little of spending for that flight! See other short haul options in our post "How to get select Canada to U.S. award flights faster by utilizing British Airways' Executive Club"

You can find out more about the transfer bonus here.

Personally I will be transferring some points over but need to work on numbers and planned travel over the next six months before I figure out how much I'm going to transfer!

  2. This one runs until September 30th so even if you don't have a Membership Rewards earning Amex there is time to get one then transfer! 3. If I sign up for a Amex Gold, do I get the 25,000 sign up bonus as soon as I spend $500 or do I have to wait 3 months? Thxs

  4. In most cases you should get the 25K within a few days of hitting the $500 level. At the very latest it would be on your first statement date after you hit the $500
